Psychotropic Medications

Create a PowerPoint presentation that reviews a psychotropic medication. Choose one of the following categories: anti-anxiety and hypnotic drugs, anti-depressants, anticonvulsants, or anti-psychotics. Choose one medication from any of the categories and create an educational PowerPoint.

The presentation must be minimum of 8 slides (15 max) including both a title and reference slide. The contents of the presentation should describe the disease process requiring the medications, pharmacokinetics, benefits, risk factors and a teaching plan (Do not use the same medication you discussed in your Discussion Question). Speaker notes must also be included.

Each slide should follow the 6×6 rule (6 bullet points no longer than 6 words). Add any pictures, graphs, videos, etc. to enhance your presentation. Speaker notes are the narrative of the presentation. They should accompany each slide (except title and reference slide) and be a minimum of 75 words per each slide.

Assignment Expectations-

Length: 8-15 slides; answers must thoroughly address the questions in a clear, concise manner 

Structure:  

Title slide and reference slides in APA style. (at least 2 slides)

Introduction: at least 2 slides

Discuss the category of medications and signs and symptoms of the client receiving the medication: at least 2 slides

Pharmacokinetics- describe how the medication is absorbed, how it is distributed in the body, the metabolism of the medication and how the body excretes it: at least 2 slides

What are risk factors of the medication?: at least 3 slides

What are risk factors of the medication?: at least 3 slides

Create a teaching plan and include any potential side effects the client should be aware of as well as any dietary or other restrictions. (This section may require more than one slide). at least 3 slides

Conclusion: at least 3 slides

Additionally, because a good presentation has few words on the slides include a script with the verbiage you would say when presenting; script should be a minimum of 50 words per slide.

References: Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least three (3) scholarly sources to support your claims.
