1. According to lecture, what was the role and significance of hip-hop in the late 80s, early 90s? Does it continue to play this role today, in your opinion? In your answer, make sure to compare/contrast Public Enemy’s 1989 and 2020 version of the song/music video Fight the Power.

2.Construct an argument that identifies, at least, one strength, and one criticism of Lee’s film BlackKklansmen. Where, in your assessment, does this film land on David Leonard’s continuum between containment and liberation? In other words, is the film effective in teaching its viewers how to resist dominant power? If so, how; if not, why? In your answer, make sure to reference Boots Riley’s short critique of the film assigned this week.
