Choose one of the following stages of life: Infancy and Toddlerhood, Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescence, Early Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, Late Adulthood, or the End of Life. Interview or observe two people in that stage. For example, if you choose Early Childhood, observe two children between the ages of 2-6 years of age or if you select Late Adulthood interview two adults who fall within that range and answer the following questions:
- How do they compare to each other in their Physical, Cognitive, Emotional, and Social Development?
- What biological or environmental influences might be affecting those differences or similarities?
- How might cultural influences affect those differences or similarities?
- Is there any other factor that might be affecting those differences or similarities?
Your paper should be written using MLA or APA writing guidelines. Be sure to properly cite any relevant references, and be sure your paper is original and not plagiarized in any way. If you are using another person’s words, be sure to put those words in “quotation” marks and cite the source. Be sure you have not used this paper for any other instructor.
The paper needs to be at least 850 words. Do not exceed 900 words. This is the equivalent of about three pages, typed and double-spaced with 12-point font, with one-inch margins on all sides.
You will be graded according to the attached grading rubric, which you can view in the Syllabus under Essay Rubric. For full credit, you must show evidence of critical thinking, as described in an early lecture in this class.
You have six weeks to complete this assignment. Therefore, no late papers will be accepted. I strongly recommend planning to get your paper in several days ahead of the deadline to avoid any unforeseen difficulties. Internet, computer, or last-minute emergencies will not be acceptable reasons for any extensions. You are also encouraged to go through a writing process that includes, writing, revising, rewriting and then showing the paper to someone you trust for a final proofread.
