Respond to both PROMPTS:
1. As explored throughout the memoir, war can have immediate and lasting impacts on the people experiencing it. Find specific examples in the book that show the direct or implied impact of war on the children and adults in Bui’s family.
2. Thi’s family escapes to Viêt Nam on a boat bound for Malaysia.
