Effects of Social Platforms on Body Image of Adolescents Literature Review & Annotation
TOPIC: “The Impact of Social Media Use on Body Image Satisfaction Among Adolescents”
You have already selected a research topic; now you need to see what research has actually been done.
Now, you will need to look into the library sources or to the Internet bibliographic resources and start the first step of your literature review – locating scholarly work that has previously been published on your topic.
You should assemble a list of 3 research references, which are closely related to your chosen topic and are the most useful articles to use when you work on your research paper.
This is your introduction. A brief statement of the problem you have chosen. Try to write this description of your research problem as clearly and effectively as possible – it will let the reader know what you are researching, and will help remind you of your research focus as you collect the 3-5 references.
List of references. Each reference should be annotated. An annotation is a brief paragraph that describes the content of the article/book. Your references will mainly be to the research periodical literature – avoid newspapers and mass-circulation magazines like People or Time, CQ Researcher, US News and World Report, Anything with weekly in the title)
Where to get the annotations? The best, most efficient, way is to read the abstracts. If you find a reference that doesn’t have an abstract, glance at it or skim it briefly to get a sense of its content and create the annotation yourself.
Review of the Literature (2 pages for non-honors students, 4 pages for honors students). From the list of references that you have assembled, select three or four articles that are the most relevant and useful for your topic. Read these articles carefully and think about them, and then write a review of the literature that should not be more than three pages (APA format). Reviews should present the main explanations or arguments about your problem. Your essay should give a coherent summary, and it should also be clearly written.
