Nurse leaders and management need environment that are conductive to patient safety. They will need to make fundamental changes in their organization. This type of leader needs to make the physical changes in the environment but have the capabilities of changing beliefs, practices of nurses and other health care professionals that in charge of changes. The nurse leaders can reengineer healthcare by making their voices heard. Voicing their concerns, needs, and wants for their units and their patients. They are the ones that are in the meeting with the people who can make changes happen. If they use their strong leadership skills and bring their information to the table, they can show that they are the frontline in healthcare and they know areas that need change and areas that are doing well. They need to be able to advocate those issues for their teams. If they can do that and make their voices heard they would be on the right path to reengineering healthcare, because healthcare is always changing.
