I think that most people underrate the importance of listening and empathizing. At the workplace, the need for maintaining professional boundaries often see employees interact less often with their leaders unless there is an urgent need. However, as we have learned, servant leaders are not only committed to organization but to the workers as well. One of the ways through which they demonstrate this commitment is through listening and empathizing. Servant leaders are committed to the personal and professional growth of their followers. Hence, listening and empathizing can help the employees deal with a lot of personal or professional problems they may be facing. Moreover, listening is a great way of collecting information on issues that need addressing to create a more favorable working environment for the workers.
