Re-read the “Working with Primary Sources,” section on pp. lxi – lxiv, and then examine closely the images associated with classical Pompeii, found on pp. 215-223. Read also the “Historians’ Voices” section which immediately follows the images. Write an analytical essay of 700-900 words addressing the following questions: How do these images and artifacts shed light on the gender and class dynamics of this Second Wave Roman city? Your essay should show your own reflection, and also engage with insights presented by the historians quoted in the Historians’ Voices” section.
