Background. To complete the Career Exploration assignment, you will need to read Guideline 1, Ten Early-Career Experiences You Can Seek Out to Improve Your Skill-set & Marketability in- Beyond Yes, Advice for Early Career Professionals Transitioning into the Workplace. Links to an external site.
Read and answer the following seven questions.
Question 1. Your perspective – Career Development.
As an early-career professional, why is it important to focus on your career development?
Question 2. Ten Career Experiences.
Name and explain the ten career experiences early career professionals should seek out. Use examples to support your responses.
Question 3. Completed Career Experiences.
Consider the ten experiences you explained in Question 2. Which career experiences have you completed? Use specific examples to support your response.
Question 4. Skills Developed.
Name and explain the skills you have developed as a result of completing the experiences described in Question 2. Use specific examples to support your response.
Question 5. Two Most Difficult Career Experiences.
Consider the ten experiences you explained in Question 2. Of the career-related experiences, you have not yet completed, which two do you believe will be the most difficult to complete? Explain your answer.
Question 6. Application – Reviewing Job Descriptions with a Different Lens (Research Requirement!)
Find a current job description for a full-time job you would consider applying for once you graduate (e.g., Handshake, Indeed, LinkedIn). Notably, the job must be an entry-level role. Next, after reviewing the job description, name and explain 3-5 career experiences, explained in #1, that you believe you can achieve if you were offered the job.
Research Requirement. You are required to upload a copy of the job description. The job description must meet the following criteria:
- If the job description is written in another language, it must be transcribed into English.
- It must be a full-time role (contract roles, internships, and part-time roles do not count).
- The job title and company must appear in the job description
- The duties and responsibilities AND job requirements/qualifications must be included in the description.
- Hyperlinks will not be accepted. Instead – the job description must appear as a separate attachment. You are required to copy and paste the job description into a MS Word Document.
