IT117: Website Development

CLASSMATE POST #1

I think Tessa should use a development application to set up the website for her employer. This would allow her to set up a basic website, but also allow room for it to grow. If Tessa does not have much experience in building a website this will also keep the website from outgrowing her ability. If Tessa chooses Dreamweaver she can still use it to write her own code if she chooses. Its visual design interface would allow her to build the skeleton of the website quickly without having to code it. It would also allow her to see what the website looks like in a web browser. If Tessa would want to code part of the website, Dreamweaver also has many features of a code editor such as syntax highlighting and other tools that help make coding easier. It also would allow her to see how her code is affecting the website on the visual side without needing to upload anything to a server or start a browser.

Hello class,

I would suggest that Tessa build the website with Squarespace. It seems the most promising and it has a lot of features. It is rated second on the Best 10 Ecommerece Site Builders. All plans start at $12 a month and a 14 day free trial. Squarespace has everything that Tessa is looking for. You can make scheduling, bog, contact information, and services offered information pages. Tessa would be able to do all of that with Squarespace. There is also marking tools and online stores that she would be able to take advantage of. For the online store she would be able to create an online store for her veterinary office.

IT261: Desktop Administration

CLASSMATE POST #3

Before your manager travels, ensure that he can access the network resources of the company by seeking coud computing services. This services provide one of the easiest routes to remote access.

For example, you could use an online collaboration system to share files. And an email service – such as that included with Office 365 – can allow him or her access their email from any location. These online services are becoming increasingly popular, particularly for smaller businesses that are unable to justify investing in their own server.Tools like Dropbox and Box are excellent ways to store files online, where authorized people in your business can view them. Cloud computing services are generally very well-suited to being accessed from anywhere. Indeed, if your business ranks mobile working as a high priority, it’s worth consulting your IT supplier to understand how cloud services can help. You can also make use of remote desktop connection software. Such software include Team Viewer and Windows Remote Desktop as standard . They work like a remote control for your main computer, so you can log in to it over the internet and access your usual programs, files and settings. These programs allows you to connect to your main office computer from a tablet computer, so you can use all your usual software.

All international locations the manager is traveling to offer dial-up-connections, which will be very useful where there is no option of connecting to the internet. But dial-ups are not the ideal option as it provides minimal bandwidth. Relying on WiFi hotspots is not going to be the right solution as most are not secured. The best option is to connect to Google Project Fi, Google’s wireless service that uses both WiFi and cellular network to phone and provide mobile internet service. They have a pay-as-you-go plan, and the data charge does not change even if it used outside the US. But Google Project Fi can only connect to Google devices such as Pixel, Nexus. Then, to use his laptop with an internet connection, he can make the mobile device the hotspot. The other option for him is to carry a Mi-Fi. This device provides secure WiFi using the local cellular network. A company such as XCom Global allows renting a device for $7.77 per month and offers its services in many countries. After he can connect to the internet through these options, then he can connect to the cloud that the company uses.
