Preventable Injuries, accidents, and childhood issues
Nurses are responsible for teaching individuals, families, and the community. Create a teaching aide to educate the parents (and/or child if age appropriate) on prevention measures one can undertake to prevent a preventable injury, accident, or issue of your choices such as drowning, motor vehicle accidents, childhood obesity, teenage suicide, etc. Identify the age and target audience. Research the topic and provide resources to the parents and/or child if appropriate. Create a PowerPoint, and use the notes section as if you were presenting this project in person.
- Identify your chosen issue and your target audience.
- Define the potential causes of the injury or issue.
- Describe its negative impact on the patient and the patient’s family.
- Educate on measures one can undertake to prevent these injuries or issues.
- Explain how you would engage your audience.
- Provide resources the family (and/or child if age appropriate) can utilize for more guidance and assistance.
Assignment Expectations-
Length: 11-15 slides; answers must thoroughly address the questions in a clear, concise manner
Structure: Title slide and reference slides in APA style. (at least 2 slides)
Issue & Audience: (2-3 slides)
Causes of Injury: (1-2 slides)
Negative Impact: (2 slides)
Prevention: (2 slides)
Engagement: (1-2 slides)
Resources: (1-2 slides)
Additionally, because a good presentation has few words on the slides, include a script with the verbiage you would say when presenting; the script should be a minimum of 50 words per slide.
References: Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least three (3) scholarly citations to support your claims.
