PSY 305 Topic Proposal and Literature Review Worksheet

PSY 305 Topic Proposal and Literature Review Worksheet

This worksheet will help you complete Milestone One of Final Project Part I, a research investigation. Using the feedback received from your instructor and classmates in Module One, describe your chosen topic in the box below:

Based on my chosen topic in problem-solving, I have dedicated my views and opinions towards the study of problem-solving. This topic is vital as it helps in understanding the cognitive processes which are currently involved in problem-solving. Most of this involvement is based on two main features, which are action and perception. Various people have given various options that align with this topic, and generally, it has improved the general interaction of the cognitive processes.

Then, select your first three references to support your chosen topic, keeping in mind that you will ultimately need seven references for your final paper. Answer the questions below for each of your first three references. The references should be listed in the American Psychological Association (APA) format. Note that you may use literature reviews rather than studies. If you do, mark “N/A” for the last two questions.

What are the key aspects of cognition covered in this reference/study?

The given reference precisely looks into various processes that are involved in problem-solving. Some of the studies involved in this reference focus on cognitive models such as structural equation models or raven standard progressive matrices modes. The major aim of these models depicted in the reference gives us an understanding of cognitive stages that are involved in problem-solving.

What evidence does the reference/study present for how cognitive processes influence the area of human behavior covered in research?

The author (Kafadar) fully discusses on various cognitive models that decipher changes in problem-solving, and they are grouped into 3. They include firming the alternative hypothesis, which is used to obtain a solution, testing, and recognition of the problem before a solution is obtained.

If your reference covers a study, what research design was used for the study, and why do you think the researchers chose it?

Kafadar has provided various assessment which aligns with cognitive models where the research has involved 250 participants in its initial assessment using the verbal protocol. After the first assessment was over, 79 subjects voluntarily erupted, which moved to the second stage. Therefore, I believe that the research needs to choose a design that will provide a general understanding of how problem-solving has to move and provide various follow up for change and assessment. Most of the participation in the model evaluates the problem-solving process, which differs from the assessment. Most of this analysis provides an increased amount of data, which varies with the cognitive models for the problem involved.

How did the researchers address potential ethical issues in the study, and did they do it adequately? Why or why not?

In the article, the research made sure that most of the participants were informed about the study process and its purpose. The first stage involved 250 participants. The second stage was 78, who made a volunteer in the assist of additional assessment on matters of problem-solving. The research addressed the potential ethical issues by interacting with various participants, and this permitted both researchers before the study began.

What are the key aspects of cognition covered in this reference/study?

Key aspects covered in this aspect focus more on cognitive processes, problem-solving, and cognitive intelligence, among others. The research study did focus on understanding dominance, which lies in human existence. Therefore, as we focus on problem-solving, there is a need to ensure the process us valid and well defined.

What evidence does the reference/study present for how cognitive processes influence the area of human behavior covered in research?

The article discusses foundational understanding, which lies in cognitive psychologists as it gives us to emphasize how human experience is independent of the environment set up. It is good to predict and hypothesize some of the plans made and draw conclusions based on the knowledge and relationship of the working set up.

What are the key aspects of cognition covered in this reference/study?

The research study gives us various perspectives in response to problem solving and aspect of cognitive psychology as it is involved in the importance of human ability for some problem-solving. It also gives a relationship with various machines involved in problem-solving.

What evidence does the reference/study present for how cognitive processes influence the area of human behavior covered in research?

The given study claims that humanity has to focus on training, which is a continuous process and has to give a better understanding of the rules that limit various problem-solving techniques. Some of these changes and problem provide an interpretation of a situation which needs some follow up in obtaining the solution towards the set problem.

Considering all three references, address the questions below:

How have views on this topic changed over time?

In the 1900’s it has been validated out that gestalt psychology is mostly involved in problem-solving as it focuses on the optimal solution, which has various stages in solving the problem. Progress of technology and mathematical analysis, as depicted in the study, must have an easier interest, especially on machines. The human process for problem-solving has to be viewed on applications that solve some of the problems and provide change for the real-world outcome.

What conclusions can be reached, based on these studies and references?

From the given references, we can understand that stages and steps involved in the problem must have action and perception. Therefore, as a reader, we need to understand that problem solving must have a comparison based on the process of computation and how humanity possesses some of the merits of insights.

What gaps exist in these studies that could be addressed in future research?

In this study, there is a need to understand the full relationship and some of the influence which aligns with problem-solving. Most of this is based on cognitive abilities such as judgment and memory, which are involved in decision making.

Based on your topic selection and initial resources, what is your research question?

What relationship does problem-solving have on judgment and memory as depicted in decision making?
