SCSU Public Policy Essay
the semester in a course on public policy it is important to be aware of what is going on currently. And this being an election year it is easier to find than usual. I would like you to watch a mainstream TV/on-line broadcast (such as NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX) and a cable network (such as CNN, MSNBC, C-SPAN) and read one article in a newspaper (hard copy or on-line) or a magazine (hard copy or on-line) about the current state of policy – anything related to health care (Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Nursing Homes, COVID and older adults, voting, etc. Take notes on what they are saying and how do you think it will affect older adults, their families and/or service providers communities. We will use this for a point of discussion when we meet on 8/30.
Here is what I would like you to think about:
- What stood out to you? Maybe the information stood out to you because it was confusing, misleading or the person(s) answered questions, raised questions or whatever it was that stood out to you. Be sure to let us know what policy(s) you found out about, the source and your reaction.
