PARTC 150 words
This week, we have been able to apply our critical thinking, argumentation, logic, and fallacy skills to two subject areas: media and science. To explore this concept more, find a scientific or technological news story that has been delivered through a news outlet and critically analyze its content as detailed below.
Describe the scientific or technological news story you have found, and then tell us why you think the story is important to share with the class. Part of thinking critically includes doing the research necessary to confirm the details of information you gather from differing media sources. Drawing from the skills you learned earlier in the course, explain why you feel this story is from a credible source. Finally, identify any details in the story that you feel need more clarification. To summarize in your initial post:
Briefly describe the scientific or technological news story you found.
Explain why the source you have chosen is credible.
Identify parts of the story that may need clarification.
- We are going to work on further developing our replies to classmates this week. Towards that end you include the following in your replies to classmates:
Retrieve a second story which covers the same topic and clarifies the details identified in your classmate’s post.
Compare and contrast the two stories and discuss why it is important to use more than one source for our news.
