Throughout this term, you’ve been asked to deliver the same speech multiple times; each time, you’ve had to work on a different skill used by anyone who speaks in public. You’re probably sick of the topic by now, but the speech is also probably much better now than it was when you began. This week, you only need to submit one post of 200-300 words to this discussion board; you do NOT have to respond to others, though if you want to do so, you’re welcome.
- In your post, discuss how your approach to public speaking has changed over the term. What do you think about now that you didn’t think about before?
- Discuss the role of rehearsal in the speeches you have given this term. How many times have you delivered the whole speech? How many times have you delivered parts of the speech? How often have you made changes to the speech itself, and for what reasons?
- For what types of speaking situations would you need to practice this much? What situations are you, personally, likely to encounter that require less? What situations would require more?
