University of San Diego The Stick Up Kids Questions

I’m studying for my Sociology class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

please submit a 500-600 word journal entry  to this discussion forum that answers TWO of the following three questions about The Stick-Up Kids. Generally, the answers that go into the most depth and reference the most concepts from the class will get the highest evaluations. 

1) How did US policies in Latin America contribute to cocaine becoming a huge export for Colombia, even more important export than coffee? How was the cocaine trade functional for hundreds of thousands of people in Colombia? 2) How did the “rising conservative movement” exploit the drug war, and what made these conservative policies successful? Besides Contreras, cite one reading from the class to support your answer (for example: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Giants, etc)

3) Discuss the exchange between Gus and Randol about women at the end of Chapter 4. Why do you think was it difficult for Randol to challenge Gus’s “sexist frame”? What is it about Gus’s circumstances that distorted his view about what “all women” were supposedly like? Besides Contreras, cite one reading from the class to support your answer.
