Valencia College Milgram Obedience Experiment Essay
Please watch the following video of the Milgram Obedience Experiment.
Here is the link:
In Milgram’s “Obedience” experiment approximately 65% of participants went all the way and ultimately delivered the maximum 450-volt shock to the “learner”. Although this is an alarming number, it was not 100% of participants. Thirty-five (35)% of participants refused to go on and stopped shocking the learner.
What do you believe may have been different about those individuals who obeyed until the very end and those who refused to go on and who stopped delivering the shocks? In other words what personality traits, attitudes or other factors do you believe were different about those who stopped and those who went all the way. Were these findings surprising to you and what do you believe this study reveals (if anything) about human nature?
This is a reflection piece (your own thoughts and analysis) and therefore NO external resources should be used.
