week 6 forums
FORUM 1: This is a minimus 300 words.(Need reference)
Week 6 we begin to “put it all togetherâ€. If preparation has been effective, both success and persistence has increased. Individuals should be feeling a greater sense of satisfaction. As a result, attributing both successes and failures to areas in which they have control. We begin to see a positive analysis of the outcome……..Attributions used by athletes often explain the difference in motivation between high and low achievers.
After completing all assigned readings and lecture notes:
Define Peak Performance. What are the psychological characteristics that determine successful or failed performance, and what can you do to enhance those that are supportive of performance?
Illustrate how the use of stable and unstable attributions can explain why some athletes persist and increase intensity, and others loose motivation and decrease intensity, even withdraw. Provide examples of each attribution.
FORUM 2: Initial responses should be no less than 150 words in length not including your reference(s) and supported by at least one reference (aside from the textbook).
Forum 6a: Inductive and Deductive Reasoning in Critical Thinking (150 words)
This week, you are learning about inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning moves from specific instances to a general conclusion while deductive reasoning is the opposite–it moves from a true generalizable principle known to be true to a specific conclusion.
For this forum, provide an example of inductive reasoning AND an example of deductive reasoning.
Do you feel most research uses deductive reasoning or inductive reasoning?
Forum 6b: Critically Thinking Through the Scientific Literature #3 (150 words)
Gwen Jorgensen front loads her meals before training and competing. She is a triathlete and won an Olympic gold medal. For this forum, you are going to find, read and report on a scientific, peer-reviewed research article on sports nutrition to discover that what an athlete eats is critical for their success. Find one scientific, peer-reviewed research article on this topic.
You are to look for a scientific, peer-reviewed research article. The best place is the library or PubMed. Do not report on a peer-reviewed review paper on the topic. A review paper summarizes several original research papers. You can use a review to help you find a scientific study. Also, a research study paper usually has the following sections: abstract, introduction, methods, results, conclusions, figures and tables. A review paper does not have these sections.
In your initial Forum post:
- list your selected article
- provide the reference for your chosen article
- describe the study and the results
- state what the study concludes
- evaluate the article. Do you think the study made appropriate conclusions from its data? Was the study designed correctly to address the hypothesis?
- Finally, provide your opinion on the matter. Be sure to justify your position.
