Fictional Characters in the Real World

Create an ORIGINAL magazine advertisement, no larger than 8 ½ x 11, using a fictional

character to sell a REAL (existing) product or service. This must look like

college level work.

Then, write

a 1 ½ – 2 page analysis

(MLA formatted) of your ad. This is

NOT a sales pitch for your product; it is a breakdown and evaluation of the ad you created.

RUBRIC: Things that MUST be in your analysis:

1)Name of fictional character used and how the character ties into the product/service in the ad

2)Product or service you are promoting

3)Description of images and details (including any text) used to convey the visual message

4)Intended audience, including the name(s) of publication(s) –magazine titles which should go initalics – where you would place the ad

5)Responses you hope to evoke in viewers/consumers

6)A conclusion that defends/supports the use of fictional characters in advertisements in general (not your own ad)
