United States v. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Deutsche Telekom is
a lawsuit brought by the US Antitrust
Division of the Department of Justice
which seeks to block the merger of AT&T and
T-Mobile USA.
If this merger happens, AT&T will acquire a customer base of approximately
132 million users, making it the largest wireless carrier in the
Consumer groups argue that the merger would raise prices and stifle innovation
by consolidating so much of the wireless industry in one firm. But according to
AT&T, the merger would in fact increase network quality and lead to larger
savings for the company which would translate into better bargains for the
consumers.
