Business Field of Choice Business Law Paper
Business Communication Research Report Topic: Select a field of business in which you would like to work. ( I CHOOSE BUSINESS LAW) Then narrow your focus to a specific job in that field. Write a research report detailing the various aspects of the job. This assignment will require extensive research about your job, with an emphasis on citing your sources. I CHOOSE BUSINESS LAW AS MY TOPIC Requirements: Research: Using the resources and reliable, credible websites, research the job or career you have chosen. I encourage using reliable sources and librarians to research your chosen field. Include in your report: ● Three to six (3-6) secondary sources ● ONE personal interview as a primary source—must be cited Title: Specific job title centered on page 1—no cover page Headings: Appropriate report headings Graphic: Include one to two graphics as visual support. Use graphics to SUPPORT your ideas, not as decoration. Graphics are excluded in page count, so make them pertinent and concise. Appendix: Brief summary of interview on last page (NOT a transcript). Excluded in page count. Format: Three to four (3-4) pages within 1” margins (top, bottom, left, and right), single-spaced, Times New Roman font, 12-point type. Double space between paragraphs. Business writing style. Process: Research your chosen field. Find out what career paths are within the field. Consider which jobs appeal to you, and then select one specific job that you would like to pursue for your career, or that you are interested in. This is your chance to explore any job (as long as it is legal). Interview someone within your selected field (ideally with experience in the specific job) and integrate the information you learn as a primary source in your report with citations. You may interview your subject by phone, Zoom, or in person (ONLY if safely). I discourage email interviews as you need to be able to ask follow-up questions in real time. Gather detailed information through secondary research online and using Library sources and integrate the information in your report with citations. Organize your data into clear, audience-focused categories, using headings like those illustrated in the Research Report Model posted to Canvas. You have to have a polished document that will answer a reader’s questions about the job’s requirements, salary, responsibilities, benefits, drawbacks, and opportunities. In addition, readers may want to know the education, skills, certifications, licenses, and experience required to get the job and become successful. This report should be a polished document that would be acceptable in a professional work environment. Ask yourself if you would be comfortable presenting this report in a portfolio to a prospective employer in your chosen career. Your report will be evaluated on both form and content. Please ensure that all sources are properly documented. …
