Reflective Paper—Part II Select one topic dealing with animals. The more specific the topic the easier the assignment will be. Example of too broad of a topic: Dog behavior. Example of a specific topic: Compulsive disorders of dogs, particularly chewing of feet. Four things the paper must have: 1. A paragraph that clearly identifies what the topic is. 2. A minimum of one paragraph reflecting on how your life experiences or observations have shaped your understanding of the topic. 3. A minimum of one paragraph identifying potential ways of moving forward in the future to improve the current situation, and identifying courses that you will take that may aid in your understanding of the topic to further improve the situation. 4. Appropriate citation using Journal of Animal Science format. The format of the paper should be Times New Roman font, font size of 12, one inch margins, 1.5 spacing with no spacing before or after the paragraph. How the points will be earned for the assignment: 1. (30 pts) A paper submitted for review. You will receive 10 pts for turning the paper in on time. You will receive 5 pts for each of the four things that are required. At the time of submission, if you do not have a section that is required you will lose points. 2. (15 pts) You will review another student’s paper based on a rubric, providing comments about achieving the identified items on the rubric as well as comments about spelling, grammar, and paper structure. You will receive 5 pts for submitting your comments in on time. You will receive 10 pts if effort was made to provide quality comments, and you will receive 5 pts if little effort was made to provide quality comments. It is not based on quantity of comments, but on quality of comments as some papers will be very well written limiting the amount of comments. 3. (55 pts) You will receive 5 pts for submitting the final paper on time.
