    effectively. Communication can be the key to successful organizations.
    For HR, the research illustrates that this attribute is a requirement
    for the new HR leader.
    For this assessment, you are to research articles and create a
    literature review on current HRM models of service, process, and systems
    enhancements as related to your selected topic and problem or
    opportunity, and how you might apply HR leadership practices in your
    effectiveness improvement plan.

    assessments in order and use the feedback received to improve your work.

    Introduction

    Conduct a literature review for your effectiveness improvement plan.
    Find literature that connects to the following instructions as it
    relates to your selected topic, organization, and problem or
    opportunity. Note: This is the first component of your capstone project. Each assessment should be completed in order so that you can use the feedback received to improve your work and build upon to complete your project.

    Instructions

    Prepare a 3–4 page literature review, including the following:

    • Analyze current HRM models of service, process, and systems
      enhancements as they relate to your topic and problem or opportunity.
    • Determine the applicability of existing HRM models to your project.
    • Analyze the factors that are necessary to develop and implement
      improvements in your chosen organization. In other words, think about
      how the problem could be solved or how to capitalize on the opportunity
      selected.
    • Analyze leadership, change management, and consultation in the roles of an HR practitioner, as they relate to your chosen topic.
    • Apply foundational disciplines of HRM to be an effective HR
      practitioner within the organization selected. This can be done by
      analyzing specific theories, markets, and reporting practices in HRM
      that relate to your topic and identified problem or opportunity.

      certifications as you work on your capstone project plan and think about
      what your next steps are after graduation.

      CApstone Project

      You will select a topic of interest in HRM, identify a problem or
      opportunity in a real organization of your choice, and create a plan to
      improve the effectiveness of the organization. This will be done through
      solving the problem or capitalizing on the opportunity. For example,
      you might select succession planning in a medium-sized business and then
      create a plan to make the organization more efficient. Alternatively,
      you might choose to address some new piece of legislation and how it
      will affect a large corporation. You would create a plan to implement a
      legally compliant approach that takes into account the business strategy
      of the organization. The value of this approach is that it brings
      specific meaning and expertise to the issues under the umbrella of HRM.

      Using your knowledge of leadership, strategic management, process
      management, analytics and metrics, talent acquisition and workforce
      planning, comprehensive rewards, employment and labor law, and ethical
      responsibilities in HRM, you must address the following three key areas
      in your overall plan:

      • How will you measure the effectiveness of the opportunity?
        Consider an HR scorecard, benchmarking, dashboard, return on investment
        (ROI) computations, or another measurement.
      • What strategies will you develop in the areas of talent and workforce management as you implement your plan?
      • What strategies will you develop to address organizational culture as you implement your plan?

      Project Structure and Steps
      Your first component of the capstone project is a literature review.
      It is suggested that you complete the following before you begin this
      assessment:

      • IMPORTANT: You will need to begin by choosing a
        topic of research, organization, and problem or opportunity that
        addresses improving the organization’s effectiveness and submitting it
        to your faculty for approval. If you have any questions, contact your
        faculty.
      • To narrow the project scope, start by reading the assessment
        instructions and scoring guides for each project component to learn the
        requirements and ensure that your topic and the problem or opportunity
        are appropriate for the capstone project.
      • Next, think about what topics you have a passion for within HRM.
        What problems are most important to solve when you think about HRM
        within organizations today?
      • You may also find that reviewing your projects from previous
        courses and artifacts that you have collected in your e-portfolio will
        help you choose a topic and complete the project.
      • Note: The organization that you choose can be a
        current or past employer or another organization that is of interest to
        you and from which you can gather information to complete this project
        successfully.

      Library and Writing Center Resources for Research and Writing a Literature Review

      To prepare for each of the project components, you’ll need to conduct research in the Capella Library. You
      may also search the Internet, but be sure to choose articles that are
      professional and peer-reviewed, from trusted sites and researchers.
      Analyze how, in your effectiveness improvement plan, you might apply the
      approach or approaches described in the articles you read.

      • Research and evaluate the definition of the body of knowledge in HR, as explained by the HR Certification Institute and the SHRM.
        Based on your review, determine whether the body of knowledge provides
        additional areas of research and analysis for your course project topic.
      • Read through the SHRM Code of Ethics.
        As you look through the code of ethics, think about how your
        organization adheres to the principles. As it relates to the code of
        ethics and what you see at this site, do you believe your organization
        can improve? How?
