You are assigned to provide care for a 48-year-old Hispanic woman with stage 3 breast cancer. There are some language difficulties. She will be coming in for doxorubicin (Adriamycin®) to treat her cancer. Please put together an education plan for this patient. The education plan should include:

• Side effects of doxorubicin and potential adverse effects to watch for, including when to call the healthcare provider.
• The patient should be educated on potential neutropenia, signs to watch for, and precautions to take.
• The importance of staying on schedule for medications should also be addressed.

The education plan should be presented in a manner in which she can easily understand. Provide details for how you will check for her understanding.
