SUNY Old Westbury Sustainable Development Goals Discussion

Part 1: Select and describe 2 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. What are the Goals, how do they contribute to “sustainability”? We reviewed the Goals in class and in your reading materials in Chirico, which you may reference. State the GOAL, identify major PROBLEMS that impede the Goal, then major STRATEGIES that mitigate the problems and enhance ACTION plans to meet the goals. Be able to describe the SDG’s as a way of helping others to understand these ideas.

Explain what is meant by Economic Development (goals, problems, strategies) and by Social Development (goals, problems, strategies). Provide examples (and you may use some of the materials from Chrico, and from your research on your two nation states. How does sustainable development by civil society” accomplish PEACEBUILDING? How can the problems of global violence (wars, trafficking, environmental destruction) be altered and why would this be a “good” set of strategies for world peace?
