Saint Francis Prep Consciousness Discussion

Consciousness is a sine qua non for classroom survival. Everyone has a story about someone who learned to sleep through lectures with eyes open. I have a fond and embarrassing memory of a hot college classroom, a very early class and awaking to see the professor nodding pleasantly at me, probably relieved that I hadn’t died or passed out. It would be tough to shrug off literally boring your lecture students to death!

Consciousness includes:

  • Circadian rhtythms and sleep, particularly REM sleep
  • Hypnosis
  • Drugs, both prescription and nonprescription
